Short answer, yes! Unforuntley as with all broadband providers, the standard wifi router doesnt cover the enitre house due to everyone generally having a differnt layout and many other things! UBB's dual band Ultimate Wifi range extenders NZ can vastly increase the wi fi coverage in dead zones around your home or business. We recommend talking to us to ensure your wifi extender is fit for purpose as there are many factors that can cause it not to be effective. Including your house layout, other electronic devices, and wifi demands of devices being used. UBB can come up with a custom solution to ensure your wifi range and performance is optimum.

Wifi range extenders provide a much more stable wireless connection than wifi repeaters. They replicate the current wifi from the modem without having to create a new wifi network. This helps to not effect bandwidth. The biggest difference with them both is their design. Wifi range extenders use cable to connect to the main router so that there isn't wifi interference. Wifi repeaters work similar to how your phone or laptop gets the wifi signal, it then repeats that same signal, but 50% slower and weaker than the signal its getting.

The best place to place to improve your existing wifi's signal strength with a range extender is generally mid way from the router where your wifi signal starts to get weak. There is two models of wifi signal extenders that we have. one of them you need to cable them directly to the modem they can be placed in rooms as long as the cable length does not exceed 100 meters. The other model we have which is wifi pack 2, this unit can be meshed to create a invisible spider web like wifi coverage for your home. Our dual band wi fi range extenders can reach from 165m2 all the way to 300m2 for our outdoor range extenders. The outdoor units use 2.4GHz to obtain a longer range. This is all pending the layout and obstacles within your house and your property. Solid objects like walls or trees (outside) can affect how far the signal can be obtained with a wifi range extender. The best way around this is to install them within the room or close as possible to the room taht has the dead zone in coverage or the room you are needing a connection most in.

Pending your personalised situation and needs there is no single best option. Our TP Link wifi extender, uses the powerline's to extend the wifi. Although this is easy to set up, it isn't the best wifi extending option we have. We also use Grandstream range extenders. There are 3 different options. The 1st one is a standalone unit that can be installed anywhere in the house and it has 165ms of range. The second option is mashable meaning you can add multiple units to create a mesh like network around the building. The third is our outdoor rated unit, usually installed on the roof; it provides the most range 300m2 and is suitable for outside.

Wifi range extenders typically work with any existing routers. Our ultimate extenders will work with the router UBB supplies with its wireless broadband, fibre broadband, and 4G broadband. What's included with our Grandstream units are 2x ethernet cables, 1x power unit for the access point and power cable. You can! With our Grandstream mesh wi fi extenders they allow you to create a mesh network around your home or business to improve performance all around the busliding. allowing you to install them in multiple rooms to have full signal in all for corners of the building!

Firstly, you will need to establish where the wireless network dead zones are in your household. This is where the wi fi coverage could do with a signal boost to help improve performance. From there you will need to decide if you can either get a professional to install it or a DIY solution. UBB's range extenders are dual band allowing for optimal wireless network coverage and fast speeds. But if the router is in another room, they may require a lengthy cable run to improve signal or two units using mesh wi fi to get better coverage. If you’re not tech savy, or time limited you may want to get it professionally installed. Once you establish a plan with UBB you will know what the best-case scenario is and the costs.

The TP Link wifi extenders we offer uses the power lines to extend the signal around the house. It comes with two units, one unit needs to plugged into where the modem is and the other where you're wanting better wifi signal. Please note that with TP links they tend to cut the maximum wifi speed in half where the extending unit is installed. More info can be found about them the TP link powerline adaptor here..
