Get the home, staff dwellings, sheds & pump sheds connected

In today’s world, it’s a necessity to have connectivity at almost every location on farm to to day-to-day business, along with meeting health and safety requirements. UBB has connected many dairy sheds, woolsheds, farm offices or pump sheds, helping our clients with reliable and affordable broadband connectivity so that they can run their businesses effectively.

Our wireless point to point solutions incorporate a singular connection and share it from 800 meters up to 3km away, and the best bit, there is no separate monthly bill, we take one “big pipe” connection and split across the farm and our technical and engineering team make the magic work so each dwelling or location gets the speed and capacity they require.

Wireless Point to Point Extender FAQ's

Frequently asked questions.

Wireless point-to-points, also referred to as P2P, is a networking or communication technology that enables wireless signals to be used to establish a direct link between two different devices or places. Without the need of physical cables. Data is communicated from one place (the transmitter) to another point (the receiver) in a wireless point-to-point configuration. It allows the user to share their current broadband connection to another building with no cables.

Point-to-point wireless bridges use radio waves to establish a direct wireless link between two places. They share the same frequency, need a clear line of sight, and frequently employ directional antennas for greater range. Data is transferred with secure encryptions from a transmitter (access point) to a receiver (client). These bridges can be used to interconnect buildings, connect distant places, or create wireless backhaul links, among other things. Due to factors affecting signal quality in the surroundings, careful planning is necessary.

A point-to-point wireless connection's security is reliant on the presence of encryption, authentication, isolation, and other security mechanisms. Without these protections, the link may be open to intrusion and eavesdropping. To safeguard data and keep networks intact, proper security procedures are necessary. UBBs ensures we follow best practices to keep out customers data safe and sound.

Point-to-point Wi-Fi speeds vary depending on the hardware and surrounding conditions. Speeds can vary from 150 to 300 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and from 300 to over 1 Gbps in the 5 GHz band, depending on the hardware and environmental factors. Speeds in the real world could be slower because to interference and other issues. Most importantly, speed with a wireless link is determined by your main broadband connection. If your only getting 100Mbps then it can only share up to that speed at best case.

When a farm employs a pair of directional radios and wireless equipment to create a dedicated link for network access between two buildings, that is an example of a conventional wireless point-to-point connection. This eliminates the need to physically run cables between the two buildings in order to share data, internet access, or other network services. Businesses, educational institutions, or farms frequently employ these links to set up network communication between various structures.

A WiFi extender increases a WiFi network's indoor coverage area. In contrast, a wireless point-to-point link establishes a direct connection between two different sites, allowing for long-distance data transmission. Their application and range differ.

A wireless point-to-point connection's range can range anywhere between a few hundred meters and several kilometers, depending on the technology, frequency, and surrounding conditions. To achieve the greatest range, line-of-sight, less interference, and directional antennas are necessary.

point-to-points need a good line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. Line of sight indicates that there are no obstacles in the way of the direct line of sight between the two sites, such as structures, trees, or hills. In point-to-point wireless communications, a clear line of sight is essential for establishing a strong and dependable connection. Maintaining an unobstructed channel is crucial for maximum performance because obstructions can degrade the signal and weaken the connection.

Point-to-point networks provide a direct connection between two places over greater distances and at high data speeds. Mesh networks, which typically operate over short to medium distances, build interconnected networks with several nodes for better coverage and redundancy. The decision is based on your particular networking needs.
