Mobile Roaming Terms

Mobile Roaming T&Cs

Roaming with Pay Monthly T&C’s

The below roaming terms are from OneNZ and apply to all UBB mobile services and its customers. More detailed information found below about roaming charges, and its terms and conditions.

https://one.nz/legal/terms-conditions/roaming/

These Roaming Terms and Conditions form an integral part of your overall UBB Mobile Services Agreement. By using UBB Roaming Services, you agree to be bound by these terms, as well as UBB’s standard Mobile Terms and Payment Terms. Roaming is available exclusively on eligible UBB Mobile Pay Monthly plans and is not available on Base plans.

2. Acceptance of Terms

You will be deemed to have accepted these Roaming Terms and Conditions the moment you initiate the use of roaming services. UBB reserves the right to amend these terms periodically. Any significant changes will be communicated in advance via appropriate channels.

3. Roaming Service Activation and External Carriers

Subject to your UBB Mobile Pay Monthly Agreement and meeting our credit criteria, roaming services will be activated within 48 hours of your request. Please note:

  • Service outside New Zealand is provided by external network carriers and is subject to their respective terms and conditions.
  • Although UBB strives to deliver a high-quality roaming experience, we cannot guarantee the same level of quality or coverage as offered domestically.

4. Daily Roaming for Eligible Plans

For customers on eligible UBB Mobile Pay Monthly plans, a daily roaming fee (the “Daily Roaming Charge”) will be applied on any day your device is used in a designated roaming destination. The Daily Roaming Charge will be triggered by any of the following actions:

  • Making or receiving a call (including voicemail)
  • Sending a text message (TXT)
  • Using mobile data
A “day” is defined as the period from 00:00 to 23:59 local time. If you use more than one device (e.g., a smartphone and a tablet) on an eligible plan, each device may incur a separate Daily Roaming Charge.

5. Roaming in Non-Daily Roaming Destinations

If you are roaming outside the designated Daily Roaming Destinations, standard international roaming rates will apply. These may include:

  • Per-minute charges for calls (both outgoing and, in some cases, incoming)
  • Per-message charges for text messages
  • Data usage fees calculated at rates specified in your plan
Please consult your UBB Mobile plan details for the specific rates applicable when roaming in non-designated destinations.

6. Data Roaming

When using data services while roaming:

  • If your plan does not include roaming data allowances, you may need to purchase a Data Roaming Bundle.
  • Data Roaming Bundles can be purchased either before departing New Zealand or once you arrive at your destination, via UBB’s online portal or through customer service.
  • Each Data Roaming Bundle is valid for 30 days from the first use, after which any unused data will expire. Data usage is measured in 1MB increments.

7. Calling and Text Messaging Charges

  • Outgoing Calls: Roaming outgoing calls are charged at rates determined by the external carrier, which may differ from domestic rates.
  • Incoming Calls: You may incur per-minute charges for incoming calls while roaming.
  • Text Messages: Roaming text messages will incur charges per message. Texts exceeding the standard character limit may be split and charged as additional messages.
  • Additional Charges: International calls, premium numbers, and other special services may be subject to separate charges, as outlined in your plan.

8. In-Flight and Maritime Roaming

Roaming services on flights and maritime vessels are not covered by these standard roaming terms and are subject to separate charges and conditions. Please contact UBB or visit our website for specific details regarding in-flight or maritime roaming options.

9. Promotional Offers

Any promotional offers or discounts available for domestic UBB Mobile services may not extend to roaming services. Please review any promotions carefully or contact UBB Customer Service for clarification.

10. Fair Use Policy

Your use of roaming services is subject to UBB’s Fair Use Policy. Excessive or unreasonable usage that negatively impacts network performance may result in additional charges, temporary suspension, or restriction of roaming services.

11. Liability and Disclaimers

  • Service Quality and Coverage: Roaming services are provided by external carriers. UBB is not responsible for the quality, coverage, or performance of these external networks.
  • Service Interruptions: UBB shall not be liable for any interruptions, delays, or failures in service provision arising from network outages, scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, natural disasters, or any other factors beyond our control.
  • Data Usage: UBB is not liable for additional data charges incurred while roaming, including those resulting from inadvertent usage.
  • Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, UBB disclaims any liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages that may arise from your use of roaming services.

12. Billing and Payment

All roaming charges will be added to your next billing statement. These charges are in addition to your regular monthly plan fee and are subject to applicable GST. Please note that billing delays may occur if external carriers provide usage data to UBB with a delay.

13. Amendments to These Terms

UBB reserves the right to modify these Roaming Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will become effective upon posting on the UBB website. Continued use of roaming services constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Contact Information

If you have any questions or require assistance regarding roaming services, please contact UBB Customer Service.
