Roaming just works when you land.

You can call, TXT or use data in over 100 destinations across 70 countries – including Australia.

The Ultiamte Mobile Endless data plans, should allow you to use Daily Roaming, which is just like using your everyday plan but with a simple daily $9 charge.

Before heading overseas, make sure your phone’s operating system is updated to latest version and VoLTE roaming is turned on. Some older phones may not work on certain networks overseas.

On arrival overseas, when you switch on your phone, you’ll get a welcome TXT. It will tell you how much it costs to use your phone overseas, for example of your destination is covered by Daily Roaming, as well as some other useful information.

You can also use Wi-Fi Calling when overseas, connect to any available Wi-Fi network and turn on Wi-Fi Calling to be able to call and TXT as if you are still in NZ. You don’t need to turn on Roaming to use Wi-Fi Calling so you won’t be charged roaming rates however your minutes and TXTs used over WIFI Calling will come out of your mobile plan allowance. Eg if you call a NZ number using Wi-Fi Calling while roaming overseas, this will come out of your plan allowance. If you call a local number in the country you’re travelling in, you’ll be charged the standard cost of calling an international number, like you would at home. Note that calls will drop once you leave Wi-Fi coverage, and you will need to turn on Roaming to make a call.

If you are going by sea or air, its worth checking Maritime Roaming costs for cruises, or using in-flight roaming on the plane as they vary and are different from the standard roaming rates.

For other destinations, you will be charged per minute or per TXT at rates specific to that location. www.one.nz/roaming/

Simplified rates apply to other destinations. www.one.nz/daily-roaming

With Wi-Fi Calling it’s easy to make and receive calls and texts in any location covered by Wi-Fi across NZ or overseas, even when you have a weak or no mobile signal.

It works like a normal call, plus there’s no additional charge for UBBs customers as it will come out of your mobile plan’s call and text allowance as usual. It will also use a minimal amount of your internet data.

Easy to set up and even easier to use, simply check you have an approved OneNZ compatible mobile phone that’s been updated with the latest software, then turn on Wi-Fi Calling in your phone’s settings, and connect to a Wi-Fi network. Note that local interference and Wi-Fi traffic load may impact the Wi-Fi Calling experience at certain times.

When in use, an icon will be displayed on your device, at the top of your screen.

Connect inside or outside without a fuss – Wi-Fi Calling connects automatically if you’re connected to Wi-Fi and have a weak mobile signal.

Over time, as new software is released and updated on phones, we expect more devices to be enabled for Wi-Fi Calling. Within NZ, all calls will try to connect to the cellular (mobile) network first, and then try to use Wi-Fi if the mobile signal is too weak*. But if you are overseas, then Wi-Fi Calling will be automatically preferred.

When overseas, connect to any available Wi-Fi network and turn on Wi-Fi Calling to be able to call and TXT as if you are still in NZ. If you call a local number in the country you’re traveling in, you’ll be charged the standard cost of calling an international number, like you would at home. Note that calls will drop once you leave Wi-Fi coverage, and you will need to turn on Roaming to make a call.

You can make emergency calls using Wi-Fi Calling, it will first try to use the mobile network before it uses Wi-Fi Calling*. Emergency Mobile Alerts will only be received if you have coverage from the mobile network, if you use Wi-Fi Calling in a non-coverage area or are on airplane mode you won’t receive the Emergency Mobile Alert.

* VoLTE registered phones connected on the 4G or 5G networks should automatically transfer between Wi-Fi and mobile signal which means you shouldn’t get cut off while you’re on the phone. A non VoLTE phone will use Wi-Fi Calling in suitable conditions, but not hand in or out of cellular.

*Wi-Fi Calling uses your broadband connection. If there is a power cut that affects your broadband equipment (wireless connection, routers etc), then Wi-Fi Calling won’t work. Are you or anyone in your household a vulnerable consumer under the 111 Contact Code? Read more about it here.

To enjoy 5G on your UBB Mobile plans you will need a 5G capable handset (which can be purchased from any good electronic store) and be in a 5G coverage area. 5G is now live in selected NZ cities and is being rolled out to more New Zealanders all the time. 5G is included in all Ultimate Mobile plans at no extra cost.

When you bundle with a UBB Rural Wireless or Fibre Broadband plan, you can save $10 every month on your broadband connection! The discount will only apply when both mobile and broadband accounts are live. Our 4G broadband connections are excluded from this. The Starter plan does not qualify to obtain this discount.

Nope! All of our mobile plans are open term, you are free to go up and down in plans once a month. Changes will only take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. If you are wishing to discontinue your mobile plan we require a minimum of 30 days notice.

You can find our mobile terms and conditions here and our mobile roaming terms here.

There is a one minute minimum charge for calls. All calls are rounded up and charged by the minute unless we tell you otherwise (e.g. if your call was for 1 minute and 40 seconds, you will be charged for 2 minutes).

If you call a 0900, calling card access number, audio conference or any other special number you will be charged the rate as published by the telecommunications service provider of that phone number, plus for special numbers, your normal calling rate.

Calls are charged at the rate which is applicable when the call is started.

It is your responsibility to check what telecommunications service provider a particular number is with (i.e. whether an 021 number is with One NZ). You can do this by TXTing the number to 300 (TXTs are free).

A single text message has a limit of 160 standard characters. If you go over this, most devices will break the message into segments with a maximum length of 153 standard characters. You’re then charged your text message rate for each segment sent. Some character sets, such as non-English language keyboards as well as emojis and emoticons, have a 70 character limit per text message and 67 characters per segment. If your message contains special characters, such as emojis, your device may send it as a picture message, or as multiple text messages. If this happens, you’ll be charged for each of those text messages or picture messages. Some devices will also convert long text messages which only contain standard characters to picture messages and you will be charged accordingly.

You will be charged the applicable Charge for each separate message sent (e.g. TXT, PXT, etc).

Calls to 123 and any other service number for other Network Operators will be charged. Genuine calls to 111 are free.
