How our outdoor Wi-Fi Extenders work
Our outdoor wifi extenders make it possible for you to have a true all four corner-to-corner wifi coverage of your entire property! They are perfect for areas of entertaining outside on your porch or deck, even extending out to your garage!
Outdoor wifi units are installed by plugging in an ethernet cable from your main broadband router and running that cable to either an external wall on the same building or another building within 80 meters away, even the roof of your household. Then on the other end of that cable, UBB / CIS installs the outdoor wifi extender. (Don’t worry, they are in a waterproof case to protect them from the weather).
The outdoor wifi booster unit is programmed with the same wifi name and password, and away you go, your wifi now works outdoors!

Yes! Unfortunately, as with all broadband providers, the standard router/modem does not cover the entire house. Most of the time, this is because all home/business layouts are not the same; some are big, some wide, and some small, wifi doesn't penetrate solid objects like walls that well. UBB's dual bandwifi range extenders can vastly increase the wi-fi coverage in dead zones around your home or business. UBB can come up with a custom solution to ensure your wifi range and performance are optimum. There are plenty of options to consider, an added benefit that UBB can offer is a full custom install from one of our CIS technicians, which takes all of the hassle away from you having to take the time out of your busy day to figure it all out. The best place to place it to improve your existing wifi signal is to place it midway between the router and where your wifi signal starts to get weak and broadband speeds are slow. To do that, you can either cable (ethernet cable) them directly to the modem or they can be placed in rooms as long as the cable length does not exceed 100 meters. The other way is to wirelessly mesh each unit. WiFi Pack 2 can be meshed to create an invisible spider web like wifi coverage for your home. Depending on where the main router is in the building, the wifi booster unit should be placed either on the 2nd storey close to where the main use of the internet will be, or in a central location upstairs. Have a look at our image above to understand.
Our wifi units and scope method are perfect for ensuring your wifi signals are optimised throughout the entire house or business. When we scope, we determine the correct solution so your house or business has full coverage. We ideally situate your main router in a central location, then look to wire or mesh the other units in strategic locations around the building.
Our extenders can reach from 165m2 all the way to 300m2 for our outdoor range extenders. The outdoor units use 2.4GHz to obtain a longer range to extend the coverage. But it's important to know that this is all pending the layout and obstacles within your house and your property. Solid objects like walls or trees can affect how far the signal can be obtained. The best way around this is to install them within the room or as close as possible to the room that has the dead zone, or near the outdoor area that you require the broadband connection to.
Firstly, you want to make sure you have an active internet connection with UBB or with another broadband provider. It is critical to understand that the internet connection must already be inside the building from which you wish to access the wifi outside. Then, by opting to go with our outdoor wifi extenders, UBB will send our specialized CIS technicians to install it in three simple steps.
1. The scope: The technician will understand where you want the wifi to be extended. At this stage, he will walk you through what is required to be done.
2. The Install: The tech will then install a cable from the existing router, in which it will run to the roof or outdoor wall of the building. They will then install the outdoor wifi unit and direct it to the location where you want the wifi coverage to extend.
3. Completion: The tech will assist you in connecting any devices to the wifi outside and ensuring you have coverage as requested! Easy as that!
There are a few ways to get the broadband connection to reach the garage. If your garage is detached, the simplest and most cost-effective way is to trench and run a cat 6 ethernet cable from the inside household modem to the garage and use one of UBB's wifi extenders. You could also look at our wireless point-to-point solutions, which our team members can walk you through if you get in touch with us.
Wifi range extenders typically work with any existing routers. Our ultimate extenders will work with the router UBB supplies with its wireless broadband, fibre broadband, and 4G broadband. What's included with our Grandstream units are 2x ethernet cables, 1x power unit for the access point and power cable. If you don't think your existing router will work contact us here so we can help advise if it will or will not.
Firstly, the best way to connect a smart TV of any kind is to use a wired ethernet connection directly to the router or the extender. That way, you can ensure the most robust internet connection is going through to the TV. If this is not possible, then the next best solution is to first setup your wifi extender to repeat the existing internet connection, then ensure the TV is setup to connect to the wifi via the extender. The wifi password and name are usually located beneath the unit or provided by your wireless internet provider. The TV settings should be found underneath the menu, which can be accessed via the remote controller. Please ensure your TV is wifi capable.
Firstly, you will need to establish where the wireless network dead zones are in your household. This is where the wi fi coverage could do with a signal boost to help improve performance. From there you will need to decide if you can either get a professional to install it or a DIY solution. UBB's range extenders are dual band allowing for optimal wireless network coverage and fast speeds. But if the router is in another room, they may require a lengthy cable run to improve signal or two units using mesh wi fi to get better coverage. If you’re not tech savy, or time limited you may want to get it professionally installed. Once you establish a plan with UBB you will know what the best-case scenario is and the costs.

Allowing your entertainment area, mancave, BBQ area, and yard to have a superior wifi signal throughout. The TP Link wifi extenders We offer use the power lines to extend the wifi around the house. Essentially you need to plug one unit where the modem is and the other where you're wanting better wifi. Please note that with TP links they tend to cut the maximum wifi speed in half where the extending unit is installed. More info can be found about them the TP link powerline wifi extender here.. Not all routers need to be plugged into the main router via an Ethernet cable. Some units can be meshed together. Check with your manufacturer to see if your current router is capable. UBB's wifi extenders need to be wired to the main router first. From there you are able to add on other units wirelessly (mesh) together.
